Colorado completed its defensive core on Monday by signing Calvin de Haan to a one-year contract worth $800,000. The 33-year-old veteran defenseman spent 2023-24 with Tampa Bay and had three goals, 10 points, 22 PIMs and a -9 plus/minus in 59 games played. Colorado will be de Haan's fourth team in four years.
de Haan will take a seat on Thursday as Nick Perbix and Tanner Jeannot draw back into the Lightning lineup. Maxwell Crozier will also draw out and join de Haan as a healthy scratch.
After sitting out Game 1 as a healthy scratch, de Haan will get a chance to play in Game 2 against the Panthers on Tuesday as the Lightning are opting to dress seven defensemen. The 32-year-old blue-liner finished the 2023-24 regular season with three goals and seven assists in 59 games.
de Haan will draw into the Lightning lineup on Wednesday as they give Anthony Cirelli, Victor Hedman, and Luke Glendening the night off ahead of their playoff run. Austin Watson is also drawing into the lineup.
de Haan will make his first appearance since March 24th as the Lightning opt to get some fresh legs into their lineup for the tail-end of their back-to-back. Haydn Fleury will sit in his place.
de Haan will unfortunately be the odd-man out of Tampa Bay's lineup on Wednesday vs. Boston as Victor Hedman returns from a lower-body injury and one-game absence. The 32-year-old de Haan has found himself in the Lightning lineup on most nights and has performed solid with his modest three goals, eight points, 56 SOG and 20 PIMs through 57 games played.
De Haan has not played since February 8th, missing the last four games, but will likely re-enter the lineup on Monday against the Ottawa Senators. In his last outing, de Haan played 17:36 time-on-ice, registering a -2 plus/minus and one hit.
de Haan will replace the injured Mikhail Sergachev (leg). de Haan has three goals and four assists in 45 games this season.
